Open Data: Trainings for NGOs and Media
The training program consists of three one-day intensive training sessions (March-May 2016), with homework and group projects to be completed by participants in between the physical sessions. Topics to be covered: What is Data. Types of Data. Data Sources. Open Data. Statistical research as a method of data collection. Data Formats. How to collect, clean, structure data. Data processing in Excel. Data Visualization. Grammar of Graphics. Tableau. Geographic information systems. How to cover economic and other statistics. Methods of data assessment. Evaluation of government and non-government and private programs. Culture of data sharing. Over 80 representatives of media and NGOs mainly from Kyiv and Lviv (but also from Odesa, Chernivtsi, Cherkasy, Vinnytsya, Minsk and other cities) participate in the training program.
Additionally, 5 informational videos drawing attention to the importance of data literacy in society were created and distributed.
